AUTISTIC ABUSE IN SCHOOL

Autistic abuse happens in many special education classroom in Malaysia.

We like it or not, we have to accept the fact that these autistic children are being pinched, hit, slapped, punched etc by the teachers. I cannot understand why they do this to these children ? Do they think it will help them ? improve them ? behave them ?

The answer is NO.

This kind of action contributes to worse condition. The children will be more aggressive and at the same time , they learn to do the same things to others around them. They do what they see. Exactly. Do the teachers realise ?

Actually, autistic children have many deficiencies. So many... Not just lack in communication skill but they are also have , what we call - over sensory problem. In this case, in my son's case, he cannot stand noise and shout. .... many other problems including health and emotion.

So, in dealing with them, we should be very careful, very understanding, very patient. ( unconditional acceptance, genuine, warm and empathy - Carl Rogers Theory).

The most important thing, we must have knowledge. Take time to read and learn ...

Please do not harm them because they are only OKUs who try their best to understand our world. Why don't we try to understand them ?

Use the right approach and implement the behaviour modification technique wisely. Only then, we can help and improve them subjected to their level of autism, time and destiny.
